Sub-sector performance was mixed. Research, Testing, and Medical Labs (RTM) led growth, increasing 4.1% year-over-year, while Pharmaceutical & Medicine Manufacturing (PMM) declined 4.5% and Medical Devices & Equipment (MDE) fell 13.8%. The widening gap between RTM and PMM activity suggests that service-oriented hiring is recovering first, often a precursor to broader manufacturing demand as upstream activity converts into production demand.

Hiring continues to concentrate in execution-critical functions, particularly across regulatory, clinical development, quality, and targeted commercial roles. At the same time, capital markets remain a gating factor.
